LDF Consultation - LATEST NEWS August 2007 - Planning Policy Seek Your Views on Community Engagement The Planning Policy Division want to know how you would like to be involved in the preparation of the Mid Sussex Local Development Framework. We are currently looking at ways of enhancing our methods of communication, including: • Evaluating our current methods of consultation and community engagement • Increasing the number of ways you can submit your views to us, specifically via our website, a 24/7 service • Increasing the number of ways you can view or purchase our Local Development Documents • Improving efficiency by using electronic methods of communication (email, e-newsletter) with those that would like to receive correspondence in this way • Keeping you informed of the progress of our Local Development Documents by way of website and email updates and e-newsletters Results from this survey will help us improve and enhance our current consultation methods and gauge the demand for electronic services (such as submitting comments online, receiving email acknowledgements and updates). It is important to stress that introducing electronic methods of engagement will not replace existing ‘paper' methods of communication; it is simply introducing an alternative, more flexible and efficient way of submitting your views and keeping informed with the Local Development Framework process. The survey should only take a few minutes of your time, and can be completed online using our Secure Online Survey Form

This sets out how the local community and stakeholders can get involved in the planning process with particular attention given to community involvement in the preparation of Local Development Documents (LDD). Mid Sussex District Council formally adopted its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) on 10 April 2006. Adopted Statement of Community Involvement [1mb pdf] Adoption Statement [24k pdf] The Statement of Community Involvement now forms part of the Mid Sussex Local Development Framework. The preparation of Local Development Documents (LDDs) and consultation on planning applications should be carried out in compliance with the Statement.
